Sensory Bag Ideas for travelling with kids

Kiddy Crafty Sensory Bags

Hi everyone, Im really sorry we have been away for a little while. We have been travelling, exploring and having lots of fun!

Its great that here in the UK with the clocks going forward it has meant we are having lots more daylight and i dont know about you but having more light in the evenings has started to give me an energy boost, so with lots of ideas going around in my head, im really hoping ill be able to manage some of them and blog about them as well!

One idea that i wished i had got around to doing in advance was making travel sensory bags, i did some other posts about sensory bags here but having some dedicated travel themed sensory bags could have come in really handy for when my little one got ‘bored’ while we were travelling!

Here are a run down on some portable sensory bags that you may enjoy as well. They would also be good to have in your bag ready for at a restaurant while waiting for your food.

Ocean Themed

We have been at the beach recently and i really like the idea of incoporating any sea shells your little ones have picked up, i got my first ones this weekend and will be happily kept till forever! 🙂

Spring sensory bag using water beads

I know alot of you like using water beads so here is another idea for using them by placing them in a sensory bag, i like the idea of using them against the window using the spring sunshine.

Farmyard Sensory Bag

This is a great website if you have time to check out some of the ideas. I really like this sensory bag as its a bit different to the others as some of the animals and the card are static in the bag while the other animals can be moved around in the oil.

Adventures of Adam Making a farm sensory bag

This has definitely given me some great ideas for more sensory bags, i like the beach themed bag as i can use some of the sea shells my little one collected while we were on holiday so a bit like a memory sensory bag! This could turn into an addiction! 🙂

The kids have put their sun craft hat on.

The sun has got his hat on, well his sun craft hat anyway. Another fun craft for a rainy day. Hopefully this will be able to bring out the sun when its raining outside.

A craft that is quick and cheap using materials that you have already around your house. I dare you not to sing…. the sun has got his hat on… while doing this!

Enjoy this fun hand print craft. This is great for a Summer project or use it to brighten your spirits on a gloomy day!

  • Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by painting or coloring the paper plate yellow. This will be the sun’s face so you can paint either the back of the plate or the front, which ever you choose! Set it aside to dry if necessary.

Trace 6 hand prints onto yellow or orange construction paper. Cut them out.

Put a little bit of glue on the bottom edge of the palm of each hand print and press them onto the edge of the non-painted side of the paper plate. Spread the hand prints out so they fit all around the paper plate. Let the glue dry.

As a finishing touch, draw or paint a face on your sun. Now you can hang it up, or even attach it to a craft stick or dowel and use it as a puppet!
